Xcel Energy’s Load Management Standard Offer Program pilot is designed to provide non-residential customers the opportunity to earn money by reducing electric power consumption on an hour’s notice for short periods of time during the summer peak demand season.
During periods of peak demand, such as hot summer days, our system may require more power than is normally available. Customers who participate in this demand response program help reduce the amount of electricity we purchase or generate, which helps us meet electric system requirements at critical times.
In return for participating, you receive one of two rebate options depending on which program option you choose.
• $35/kW for up to six 4-hour controls
• $50/kw for up to twelve 4-hour controls
• Qualification requirements are 100 kW of interruptible demand per location
• No penalty for non-performance, simply no payment if you don’t deliver
• Customers maintain control of their systems and power usage at all times
• Electric controls are limited to the summer months from June 1 through September 30
• Controls are limited to weekdays, between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
• At least one-hour advanced notification of all electric curtailment events
